For this project, I was given the task of creating two visuals illustrating rhyming pairs. One through photo collage and one graphically. My concepts started out as sketches, the two rhyming pairs I decided to take on were Key Bee and Zen Hen. While the sketches are rough looking, it was a good way for me to flush out ideas and I generally ended up sticking with the base of their design and style. I chose to expand the Key Bee rhyming pair as a photo collage because the concept lent itself easily to photo manipulation. With Zen Hen, I leaned into the cartoony style of my sketch and finished it graphically. I pushed myself with my first drafts, I made them as presentable as possible before the first round of feedback which paid off in the end, the final edits were smaller, playing around with the background of the bee, changing highlights and shadows, or fine tuning the directions of the feathers on the hen and adjusting the eye positions.
